    Privacy Policy

    1. Identity and Data Controller

    Data Controller: Digital Bridge, trading as FuelFinder Ireland, Gorey, Co. Wexford, Ireland.

    This site is not affiliated with the Irish Government, the Department of Energy, Fuels for Ireland, An Garda Síochána, the Irish Defence Forces, any oil company, any political party, or any protest organisation.

    2. What Data We Collect and Why

    (a) Fuel Reports

    Station name, status, fuel type, price, optional notes. Submitted anonymously. Stored for 6 hours then archived/anonymised. Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) — operating a public information service during a national emergency.

    (b) Location Data

    Browser geolocation is requested ONLY when you initiate a "find near me" search. Your location is not stored, not transmitted to any third party, and is processed locally in your browser only.

    (c) Email Alerts

    Email address, county, fuel type preference, consent timestamp. Lawful basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Retained until unsubscribe or 90 days of inactivity.

    (d) IP Hashes

    One-way hashed IP addresses stored for anti-abuse purposes only. Cannot be reversed to identify individuals. Retained for 30 days.

    (e) Analytics

    Plausible Analytics used. No cookies. No personal data collected. No cross-site tracking. GDPR-exempt by design.

    (f) AI Chat

    Conversation text is sent to an AI API for processing. Not stored by FuelFinder Ireland beyond the active session. Subject to the AI provider's privacy policy. AI-generated responses are clearly labelled as such in compliance with the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689).

    (g) Contact Form Submissions

    Name, email, phone (if provided), and message. Stored securely and only accessible to the application administrator. Retained for up to 12 months. Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

    (h) Cookies and Local Storage

    See our Cookie Policy for full details. We use essential cookies only. No advertising, marketing, or third-party tracking cookies are used.

    3. Location Data — Special Notice

    Location data is personal data under GDPR. We only access your location when you explicitly request "find fuel near me". We do not store, log, or transmit your location to any server. Your coordinates are used solely to sort nearby stations within your browser.

    4. Your Rights (GDPR Chapter 3)

    Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

    • Access your personal data (Art. 15)
    • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16)
    • Erasure / Right to be forgotten (Art. 17)
    • Restriction of processing (Art. 18)
    • Data portability (Art. 20)
    • Object to processing (Art. 21)

    5. Third Parties

    We use the following third-party services in the operation of this site. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of these organisations:

    • Supabase — Database hosting (EU region)
    • AI processing — AI chat and summary generation (US-based processing — see International Transfers below)
    • Resend.com — Email delivery (EU servers)
    • Plausible Analytics — EU-based, privacy-first analytics (no personal data)
    • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — Map tiles and geocoding (no personal data transmitted). © OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License (ODbL)
    • Leaflet — Open-source mapping library (BSD 2-Clause licence). No data transmitted
    • AA Ireland — Publicly available fuel price survey data referenced for informational purposes
    • News publishers (RTÉ, Irish Times, Irish Independent, BBC, Dublin Live, South East Radio, Wexford Weekly) — We link to their articles but do not reproduce, copy, or store their content
    • gov.ie — Government information referenced under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations
    • Wikipedia — Background crisis information referenced under CC BY-SA 3.0

    We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with any third party for commercial or marketing purposes.

    6. International Transfers

    AI chat data may be processed outside the EU/EEA. This transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards under GDPR Article 46. By using the AI assistant, you consent to this transfer.

    7. Data Retention Schedule

    • Fuel reports: 6 hours live, then anonymised and archived indefinitely for statistical purposes
    • Email subscriptions: Until unsubscribe or 90 days of inactivity
    • IP hashes: 30 days
    • AI chat logs: Not retained by FuelFinder Ireland beyond the active session
    • Contact form submissions: Retained for up to 12 months
    • Cookie preferences: 365 days

    8. Children

    This service is not directed at persons under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from persons under 16 years of age.

    9. Content Moderation

    User-submitted comments are automatically filtered. Comments containing offensive, defamatory, abusive, or inappropriate language are silently rejected and not stored. We reserve the right to remove any content at our sole discretion without notice.

    10. Limitation of Liability

    This application is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We accept no liability for any loss, damage, or inconvenience arising from use of or reliance on data provided by this application.

    11. Changes to This Policy

    Updated policies will be posted at /privacy with a new effective date. Material changes will be notified to email subscribers.
